The Taconnett Falls Genealogical Library has over 360 linear feet of genealogical books and records on its shelves. New books, records, and other resources are continually being added to this vast collection. Donations are welcome. Genealogy enthusiasts are encouraged to submit research queries by email to or by postal mail at the address given below in the membership information.
Our Library
The Taconnett Falls Genealogical Library, owned and operated by the Taconnett Falls Chapter, is located at 21 College Avenue in Waterville. The entrance is on the Front Street of the building, facing the back part of the parking lot. The library does not lend materials, and materials are not to be removed from the premises.
The library’s contents include:
- Over 22,000 obituaries filed alphabetically on index cards
- Three large binders of Washington County obituaries
- Many records on the families of Civil War veterans
- Many extensive special collections donated by members
- Town histories, records, and reports from all over Maine
- Diaries, photo collections, school yearbooks, vital records, quarterly publications, genealogical journals, and other items
- For Franco-American, French Canadian, and Acadian research, the library has many Quebec records, northern Maine records, and digital records of about 250,000 Maine marriages, all provided by member Bob Chenard during more than 15 years of research. It also includes the Jette reference work on early Quebec families and the Talbot series of 11 volumes of marriages listed by surname covering Beauce, Dorchester, and Frontenac counties in Quebec, and other books that are helpful in this area of research.
Gifts and Donations
The Taconnett Falls Chapter welcomes donations of genealogical materials as well as cash donations to help sustain the library. Gifts may be made in memory of or on behalf of individuals or organizations. We also will accept donations for specific purposes such as books general operating expenses, special projects, or equipment. All donations are fully tax-deductible, as the Taconnett Falls Chapter is a registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
